Councillors have a grievance

By Our Special Correspondent

TIRUPATI: In the raging row between the TDP and the Congress in the Tirupati Municipal Council, a section of Congress councillors today presented a complaint to the Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy, against the Municipal Chairperson, K. Sankar Reddy (TDP), highlighting his `scuttling' of the implementation of `Praja Patham' in the Congress-held wards.

In the representation listing the complaints against the municipal chairperson, the Congress councillors led by their floor leader, P. Nagabhushanam, urged the Chief Minister to expedite steps to confer corporation status on the Tirupati Municipality.

They believe that this would eventually end in the dismissal of the TDP-held council nearly 20 months ahead of its term and pave the way for a fresh election under the Congress dispensation.

The delegation complained to the Chief Minister that the municipal chairperson not only boycotted Praja Patham but also gave a call to the public to follow suit terming it a `farce.'
