For divine blessings: The Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, offering prayers at `dhwajasthambham' at Tirumala on Thursday
TIRUMALA: The Chief Minister, Y.S.Rajasekhar Reddy, who reached Tirumala on Wednesday evening offered prayers in the temple of Lord Venkateswara on Thursday morning. The Chief Minister, despite entering the temple through `Mahadwaram', preferred to reach the temple complex in the darshan queue line like a commoner. On his arrival at the temple complex, the temple management received him with traditional `Isti Kapal' honours. Dr. Reddy stood in front of the presiding deity for nearly 10 minutes while the temple priests explained him the sanctity of the temple and the importance of the place. The chief priest of the temple, A.V.Raman Deekshitulu, presented him with a silk `Sesha vastram' of the Lord on behalf of the temple management. Later, at the Ranganayakula mandapam, the temple priests rendered `Veda Ashirvachanam' to him, while the TTD Executive Officer, APVN Sharma, presented him with the prasadam of the Lord. Dr. Reddy released five books -- Karnaparvam, Salya, Sowthika, Sthri and Shantiparvam, all relating to the Mahabharata. A book on sculpture -- Roopa Dhyana Ratnavali -- was also released in the presence of the TTD chairman, T.Subbirami Reddy, the Special Officer, A.V.Dharma Reddy, and the TTD board members -- Ramaraju, Ganesh, Nageswara Rao and Navneeswara Reddy. After coming out of the temple complex, Dr. Reddy laid foundation stones for several developmental works being taken up by the TTD.
