CHENNAI: The Central Crime Branch police on Thursday arrested Shivakumar (30), nephew of Adikesavan who has been charged with duping several businessmen. Involved in a murder case, he was used by Adikesavan to threaten people, police said. On Wednesday, police arrested Mihir (28), of Vyasarpadi, an associate of Adikesavan, and seized electronic goods worth Rs. 4.5 lakh, including a laptop from the house of Adikesavan. Mihir had been working with Adikesavan for more than four years and he had helped him in getting contacts in the north, as he could speak Hindi fluently, police said. They have also seized documents relating to landed property held by Adikesavan, which was with Mihir.
Doctors duped
The police have also received complaints about Adikesavan from two doctors working in a Government hospital. One of them had reportedly paid Rs. 7 lakhs and another Rs. 2 lakhs to Adikesavan, who had allegedly assured them a loan of Rs. 3 crores each, the police added. The Central Crime Branch Police arrested Adikesavan, a resident of Vyasarpadi, on Monday on charges of duping several businessmen by promising them loans from foreign sources. Police also received complaints from a businessman from Nasik and a financial consultant from Kolkatta stating that Adikesavan had taken about Rs. 2 crores from them on a promise of getting them loans of Rs. 40 crores.
