Woman beaten
to death
The woman was beaten up after she intervened when some of her relatives allegedly assaulted her sister. Srinivasan, the victim's brother-in-law and two others, Kanagaraj and Kokila, allegedly assaulted Kamakshi, who fell unconscious. She was rushed to a private hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival. Pallikaranai police said they had arrested the three.
Man set ablaze in Thoraipakkam
Police identified the victim as Maran. Maran was a police informant and his tip-offs had led to the arrest of several criminals. On Wednesday, three men poured petrol on him and set him ablaze at a tea stall. People in the vicinity managed to douse the flames and rushed him to the Government Royapettah Hospital, where he died later in the day. Police have arrested four men - Appu, Kutti, Joseph,and Rajesh over the murder.
