VIJAYAWADA: The Commissioner of Vijayawada Municipal Corporation, V. Usha Rani, has urged the health staff to take up effective measures to prevent cases of malaria and dengue. Addressing an inaugural meeting of a two-day training programme for public health staff here on Thursday, she said the employees should create an awareness among the people. Pointing out that malaria was a major threat to public health, she wanted the staff to concentrate mainly on steps to curb mosquito menace. Suggesting anti-larval operations, she said timely action could prevent cases of dengue and filaria. She directed the sanitary staff to take up door-to-door campaign to make people aware of the steps to be taken for a healthy life.
