Commodity prices

The following are the prices (in rupees per kg) of the essential commodities in the local wholesale markets on Thursday, according to the Vijayawada Chamber of Commerce and Industry: groundnut oil - 51, palmolein oil - 39.75, sunflower oil - 48, tamarind (flower variety) - 20 to 28, tamarind (karipuli variety) - 42 to 46, chillies (new) - 13 to 14, rice (2716) - 13, rice (superfine) - 15, rice (samba masoori) - 15 to 17, rice (sona masoori) - 17 to 19, black gram - 22 to 24, red gram - 22.80 to 27.30.

Pregnancy guide

A new interactive multimedia CD-ROM `pregnancy guide' was released by gynaecologist and retired Health University professor, K. Kamala, at the New Students Book Centre on Thursday. The CD-ROM contains information pertaining to various precautions as well as exercises that should be taken by pregnant women. Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Kamala appreciated the efforts that went into the making of such an educative CD.
