BANGALORE: The Federation of Aided SC/ST Educational Institutions has opposed the Government's move to transfer surplus teachers from aided schools to government schools. Speaking to presspersons here on Thursday, the State General Secretary of the Federation, J. Nagaraj, said that according to the Supreme Court judgment in the B.T. Sidappa case, the Government was expected to release salary grants for aided teachers between 1987-1995, but these grants have never reached the teachers.
Threat to move court
The federation has threatened to file a contempt of court petition against the Government if their demands are not met. The demands include extension of salary grants to craft teachers and attenders, honorarium to cooks who work under the mid-day meal scheme and uniforms and textbooks to students of aided schools. Mr. Nagaraj also demanded that the Education Department officials who have been working in the same place for the last four years be transferred.
