HYDERABAD: Four persons robbed a jeweller of gold weighing 1.5 kg and Rs. 70,000 in cash at knifepoint at Street No. 6 in Himayathnagar, a stone's throw from his house, a little after midnight on Wednesday. M. Anjaiah (49), was returning home in his car from his shop when the miscreants, also coming in a car, intercepted him near a corner. Even as the businessman wondered what the strangers were up to, the latter got down and lunged at him with knives and swords. Sensing danger, Anjaiah got down, pleaded not to kill him, asked them to take away everything he was carrying and started to run. The miscreants caught him and threatened to kill him if he failed to show where the money was. When he said that the bag was inside the car, three of them got into his vehicle and tried to drive it away. As the car did not start, they collected the bag and sped away in their vehicle. Incidentally, the businessman was robbed in a similar fashion 13 years ago. Two scooter-borne persons intercepted his two-wheeler at a secluded place in the Reinbazar police station area and took away gold and cash, all worth Rs. 1 lakh, after inflicting knife injuries on him. Subsequently, the police traced the miscreants and recovered the stolen property.
