This Day That Age
An all-party Parliamentary committee has been formed in New Delhi for the purpose of mobilising public opinion in the country in favour of early merger of Goa with India. The committee, which has been convened by Mr. A.K. Gopalan, Mr. Asoka Mehta, Mr. S. Nijalingappa and Dr. Lanka Sundaram, includes members of various political parties as well as independents. According to the conveners, the committee will hold a series of national conventions in various parts of the country in favour of the Goa liberation movement. The first of these will be held under the chairmanship of Mr. Frank Anthony at Bombay on May 21 and 22, the second at Calcutta on May 28 and 29, the third at Madras on June 25 and 26 and the last at Delhi in July after Parliament reconvenes for the monsoon session.
