PONDICHERRY: CBI officers from Chennai on Friday searched the residence of V. Candavelou, Secretary, Law and Labour and former Pondicherry Collector.
CBI officials in Chennai told The Hindu that the search and questioning were related to a land acquisition case registered by the agency in Delhi. "Today's search was part of a nationwide raid on the houses of officers who served in Andaman and Nicobar when the land scam took place," said an official. Bank documents and details of insurance policies were seized. Mr. Candavelou was posted in Andaman and Nicobar Island as Deputy Commissioner earlier. The two-and-half hour operation began at 9 a.m.
