TIRUMALA: Devotees have urged the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) management to take up the issue of providing `concessions' in the train fares to those rendering voluntary service under the `Sri vari seva' scheme at Tirumala, with the railway authorities. Participating in the `Dial TTD Executive Officer' programme, on Friday, a devotee, Venkataswamy from Ongole said that the volunteers rendering one year of service through the Satya Sai Seva Samiti were given concessions in the train fares. Why should the TTD not take up the issue with the railway authorities and get the same privilege extended to devotees voluntarily participating in the `Sri vari seva' scheme? he asked. The TTD Special Officer, A. V. Dharma Reddy, who anchored the programme assured that he would look into the issue and see that something was done for devotees rendering voluntary service. Another caller, Indira, urged the TTD to put up supporting rods on the footpath between the Galigopuram and the Hanuman Statue point. To another query, Mr. Reddy said the TTD had set up free medical centres at three different points on the Tirumala footpath and had also provided a round-the-clock ambulance facility for pilgrims trekking the hills.
