HYDERABAD: The Government has amended rule 16 of the Andhra Pradesh State Legal Services Authority Rules 1995 enhancing the upper limit of annual income of a person from Rs.25,000 to Rs.50,000 for eligibility to avail of free legal services.

The services come under clause (h) of section 12 of Legal Services Authority Act 1987 for cases before a court other than the Supreme Court.

According to a press release issued by G. Bhavani Prasad, member-secretary of the authority, in view of the amendment any citizen whose annual income does not exceed Rs.50,000 is now entitled to get legal services to contest as petitioner or respondent in a case before any court in the State.
