NEW DELHI: : The Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Sunil Dutt, on Friday held a high-level meeting with the Lieutenant-Governor of Delhi, B L Joshi, the Chief Minister, Sheila Dikshit, and the Indian Olympic Association president, Suresh Kalmadi, and discussed various steps being taken for preparation of the Commonwealth Games 2010. In the meeting, where senior officials of the Union Youth Affairs and Sports Ministry, the Delhi Government, the Delhi Development Authority, and the Indian Olympic Association were also present, Mr. Dutt emphasised the need for time-bound nature of preparation for the Games. The meeting stressed that crucial bottlenecks in implementation and decision-making be identified quickly. It was also decided to explore the possibility of a fast-track mechanism for obtaining clearances from different bodies. A presentation on a conceptual plan for different sites was also made. The meeting also identified a few critical issues of immediate nature and officers were asked to immediately suggest solutions to it.
