GOOD OLD DAYS: The former Mayor, T. Rajeshwar Rao, with the Major Irrigation Minister, Ponnala Lakshmaiah, at the Hanamkonda Government School and Junior College in Warangal on Friday.
WARANGAL: The Hanamkonda Collegiate High School had some elite visitors today. They recounted - with a dose of nostalgia -- their days spent at the school established by the Nizam before Independence. The Major Irrigation Minister, Ponnala Lakshmaiah, was among them. So, too was T. Rajeshwar Rao, the Mayor who just left his office. Many noted medical professionals too made it. They were all students of this school in the early 1940s. Mr. Lakshmaiah went round the dilapidated structure pointing at each room and explaining to the district Collector, N. Siva Sankar, his heroics during the good ol' days spent there. The VIPs then went to the 100-year-old Government maternity hospital where many of them and their children and grandchildren were born. A new building complex has been added with modern facilities and the occasion was inauguration of operation theatre and a conference hall.
