MADURAI: : Members of the Southern Railway Mazdoor Union staged a demonstration in front of the railway station here on Friday demanding constitution of the Sixth Pay Commission. Led by the SRMU Madurai divisional secretary, R. Kesavan, the agitators raised slogans urging the Central Government to form the pay commission at the earliest. They also opposed retrenchment and privatisation moves of the railways. The members of the Southern Railway Employees' Sangh also organised a demonstration the same day in front of the divisional office demanding constitution of the Sixth Pay Commission. The SRES divisional secretary, V. Gopalakrishnan, presided over the protest.
