BANGALORE: The Eighth Additional City Metropolitan Magistrate, Gurumuthy, has issued summons to the Chief Minister, N. Dharam Singh, and the Editor of Kannada daily, Udyavani, Poornima, in connection with a defamation case filed by the State unit of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Mohan Kumar, RSS secretary, and two others had filed the case in January against the Chief Minister for allegedly making derogatory statements on the RSS during the campaigning for the Bidar Lok Sabha byelection and on Gandhi Jayanthi in 2004. The Editor of Udyavani was made as another accused for publishing the Chief Minister's statements. The judge has asked the Chief Minister and Ms. Poornima to appear before the court on June 4.
