BANGALORE: Tata Motors is keen on acquiring manufacturing facilities overseas as part of its expansion plans, Group Chairman, Ratan N. Tata, said here on Friday. The world's fifth largest medium and heavy commercial vehicle manufacturer Tata Motors exported more than 20 per cent of its production having a range of over 150 commercial vehicles, including light, medium and heavy-duty trucks, buses and tractor-trailers.
ACE priced at
Rs. 2.25-2.35 lakhs
"Our plans are not just to export but to acquire manufacturing facilities abroad," he told reporters at the commercial launch of ACE, the first indigenously developed sub-one tonne mini-truck, priced at Rs. 2.25 lakhs for the BS II and Rs. 2.35 lakhs for the BS III variants.
It had recently acquired a 21 per cent equity stake in bus manufacturing company, Hispano Carrocera, thereby expanding its presence in Morocco and Spain. Mr. Tata said Tata Motors was also looking at entering the multi-utility vehicle (muv) and sports utility vehicle (suv) segment apart from expanding its passenger car and commercial vehicle business.
