"Fresh polls only way out"
Special Correspondent
PATNA:
The CPI (M) general secretary, Prakash Karat, on Sunday expressed displeasure over President's rule in Bihar and said fresh elections must be held to elect a popular government.
Mr. Karat said the law and order situation had not improved with atrocities against women and Dalits continuing. He was against further extension of Central rule in the State. The only way out was to go to the people again as it was unlikely that a government could be formed in the State in the near future.
The CPI (M) leader said the party would evaluate the one-year performance of the UPA Government at its two-day meeting on May 13 and 14. Mr. Karat said the Government should introduce the Rural Employment Guarantee Bill during the current session of Parliament.
