Beenamol on a new track in life

THRISSUR: Ace athlete K.M. Beenamol took to a new track in life as she exchanged marriage vows with Dr. Vivek George at a simply ceremony at the Infant Jesus Church, Kallettumkara, Irinjalakuda, near here on Sunday.

The small church hall was packed with family members of the groom and the bride, their friends and well-wishers as Vicar Rev. Fr. Vin Chalisseri led the 70-minute wedding mass. A large gathering of who's who of Indian athletics was also present to greet Vivek, clad in an ash grey suit, and Beenamol, donning a white bridal sari, as the two arrived separately.

Among those present at the Church included Shiny Wilson, Wilson C. Cherian, V. Bhaskaran, Padmini Thomas, Lekha Thomas, K.S. Bijimol, Sreekumari Amma, K. Saramma, Jossey Joseph, Manoj Lal and a host of former and present National champions, MLAs, T.U. Radhakrishnan, P.T. Thomas and Savithri Lekshmanan, the Kerala Sports Council president, C. Mohanachandran, KAA officials and coaches, notable among them being P.R. Purushothaman and T.P. Ouseph.

Later, at the reception held at a hall nearby, the Chief Minister, Oommen Chandy, and the Sports Minister, Dominic Presentation, greeted the couple and wished them well. And for the people of Kallettumkara, it was undoubtedly a memorable event to cherish as Beenamol, all smiles as usual, joined an equally happy Vivek to cut the wedding cake.

Truth to tell, it was a picture card perfect opportunity for the waiting cameramen.
