With a 74-30 win-loss record in Davis Cup, Leander has pulled level with the Brazilian player of the sixties, Tomas Koch, who had a 74-44 record. Considering his passion while playing for the country and his team spirit, there is more to come from Leander.

Sir, — With players of the calibre of Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi in its ranks and the promising trio of Harsh Mankad, Prakash Amritraj and Karan Rastogi as the second line, India dominated Uzbekistan in the Asia-Oceania Davis Cup tie. The Hindu's coverage of the match was good and extensive.

Sir, — India has to learn from Australia about the importance of domestic cricket. Top players there regularly play in domestic fixtures.

A Test player, struggling with his form, can utilise the domestic competition to regain confidence. The BCCI should draft the annual calendar in such a way that domestic cricket gets its due importance.
