Sir, — Leander Paes inspired the Indians to victory over Uzbekistan. With a 74-30 win-loss record in Davis Cup, Leander has pulled level with the Brazilian player of the sixties, Tomas Koch, who had a 74-44 record. Considering his passion while playing for the country and his team spirit, there is more to come from Leander.

Sir, — India has to learn from Australia about the importance of domestic cricket. Top players there regularly play in domestic fixtures.

A Test player, struggling with his form, can utilise the domestic competition to regain confidence. The BCCI should draft the annual calendar in such a way that domestic cricket gets its due importance.
