Rag-picker hurt in detonator explosion

VIJAYAWADA:
A detonator went off at Sitannapet near Kedareswarapet in the city on Sunday. One person was injured in the blast. However, the intensity of the explosion was mild.
Tension prevailed following the blast on the canal bund at Sitannapet.
A rag-picker, B. Srinu (20), staying at Navajeevan Home, collected some copper wires covered with plastic along with a huge quantity of scrap on Sunday morning and burnt them on the canal bund with a view to extracting copper.
Suddenly, a blast occurred from the fire and Srinu sustained injuries.
The police, along with the members of the Clues team swung into the action and found nearly 20 detonators on the spot.
