Two auto-lifters arrested
Acting on a tip-off, a police team laid a trap on Karala-Kanjhawala Road and tried to stop the duo, riding a motorcycle bearing a fake number plate. But the two abandoned the motorcycle and tried to flee. However, they were nabbed after a chase. The police said the duo used to steal motorcycles, dismantle them and then dispose of their parts.
Gas thieves caught
The accused, Ram Charan, Kripa Shanker, Rajeev Singh, Vishnu and Raghu Nath Pandey, were arrested near the CGHS dispensary in Paharganj area, police said today. Police said 49 cylinders, pipes and a weighing machine were seized from them while they were taking out gas to fill empty cylinders. A case has been registered against them.
Two held in rape case
On Friday night, the Vijay Vihar police station got information about a quarrel in the Block C of the area. On reaching the spot, the police team found a seriously injured teenaged girl, who was immediately rushed to the hospital. During treatment it was found that she was pregnant. After the girl's allegations, the police arrested her mother and the accused who raped her.
Survey
Responding to a recent survey conducted by the PHD Chambers of Commerce and Industry, over 300 business representatives from Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad and Gujranwala Chambers of Commerce and Industries said it was high time that both the neighbours forged greater economic cooperation by promoting people-to-people interaction.
Monorail system
The Government of National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi proposes to get a feasibility study conducted before taking a decision on introduction of monorail and in this regard, a private company, Geobase Techniques, has recently made a presentation to Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit. According to sources in the Union Urban Development Ministry, the Indian company, having collaboration with Hitachi of Japan, has claimed that it would be able to do the job at a low capital cost of Rs 45 crore per kilometre, as against that of Metro Rail of Rs 130 crore.
