Good response to `Shristi 2005' from engineers

HUBLI: Nearly 2,000 students are expected to participate in the fourth technical fair, "Shrishti-2005," being held under the auspices of Akhil Bharatiya Vidhyarthi Parishad and B.V.B. College of Engineering and Technology here from May 12 to 15.

Shankaranna Munavalli, president of the reception committee of the fair, told presspersons here on Monday that the objective of the fair is to canalise and harness hidden talent in a constructive way. This platform can act as a facilitator between industry and institutions. It will help a number of budding engineers and entrepreneurs in building their careers, he said.

Basavaraj Horatti, Minister for Science and Technology, will inaugurate the fair on Thursday. Vijay Sankeshwar, former MP, will launch the Shrishti Product Development Network. P.S. Goel, Deputy Director of ISRO, will be the chief guest at the valedictory function on Sunday, Mr. Munavalli said.

He said that several brainstorming sessions, special lectures, and panel discussions will be held as part of the technical fair. Rajiv Dixit of Azadi Bachao Andolan, Allahabad, will be speak on "Indian engineers' contribution to the world of technology," during the fair.

Ashok Shettar, Chairman, organising committee of the fair, said every year around 30,000 final-year engineering students and some 6,000 lecturers put in their efforts for six months to create innovative models for the final-year project.
