TUTICORIN: Indian Bank (Chennai) claimed the Karunagaran Memorial Trophy, defeating Integral Coach Factory (Chennai) 60-41 in the last match of the men's semifinal league in the State-level basketball tournament here on Sunday. Indian Bank, with an all-win record, emerged winner, while ICF finished runner-up losing only to Indian Bank. Southern Railway (Chennai) finished third. Rising Star BC (Chennai) beat Ethriaj College (Chennai) 48-35 for its fourth win in the five-team women's league to win the Sadhiram Sons Trophy. Physiocare BC (Chennai) finished runner-up and Ethiraj College finished third. The results: Men: Indian Bank 60 (Dinesh 24, Javed Khan 18) bt ICF 41 (Balaji 10, Senthil Selvan 11); Southern Railway 71 (Pasupathy 19, Bernard Philips 15, Azaria Prabhakar 11) bt Port Trust, Tuticorin 46 (Arumugam 12, Ramesh 11). Women: Rising Star 48 (Lakshmi Devi 18, Deepa 10) bt Ethiraj College 35 (Amirtha 13, Nandini 10). Special Awards: Player of the tournament: Men: Ashwin (ICF). Women: Karpagam (Physiocare).
