Swamy's charge

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy has contended that Congress president Sonia Gandhi had obtained her Indian citizenship after "misrepresentation" of some facts.

"Ms. Sonia Gandhi has never renounced according to Italian law her Italian citizenship and hence her Indian citizenship has to be cancelled according to Section 10 of the Citizenship Act (1955). I shall be approaching the Delhi High Court soon on this matter and seek a direction to the Home Ministry to initiate the proceeding for cancellation of her citizenship of India," he said in a statement.

He also produced a photocopy of Ms. Gandhi's application for citizenship.
