Hopes and aspirations of toppers

Staff Reporter

KOTTAYAM: Ajay Mohan, first rank-holder in medical stream in the Common Entrance Test in the Scheduled Caste category, likes to get admission to a medical college in Kerala, though he has attempted the all-India entrance examinations. He has a reason for this: both his parents had passed out from medical colleges in the State. Ajay is the son of Mohan of the Department of Psychiatry at Government Medical College, Kottayam, and C.S. Omana, paediatrician at the Institute of Child Health here.

Ajay, who was a student of Girideepom Bethany School, was following the CBSE syllabus with Biology and Maths as the main subjects. He has scored a good rank in the engineering stream too. Interestingly, his elder sister may join the medicine course this year.

Kottayam claimed the first two ranks in the engineering stream. The first rank went to Ninoy Job Kannampallil, who had been a student of Good Shepherd English Medium School at Thengana near Changanassery. He would like to be an electronics engineer. The second rank-holder, M. Rakesh, is the son of M.M. Mukundan of Koodappalm.

He had taken electronics and information technology for his Plus Two and would like to go in for B.Tech. in electronics. A student of St. George HSS, Muthalakkodam, his teachers were expecting a place among the first 10 ranks for him.
