BIDAR: Influence of vachanas on modern poetry is strong and long standing, writer and member of the Karnataka Pustaka Pradhikara, Kashinath Ambalagi, said here on Sunday. Speaking at the foundation day of the Kannada Sahitya Parishat, he said vachanas are rich with the experience of Sharanas, who came from various classes and castes. The age of vachanas is therefore poetically described as the time when "the soil developed a million tongues."
