CHITRADURGA: Residents of Chitradurga old town resorted to rasta roko on Monday demanding supply of drinking water in various parts of the town. About 300 people from various areas assembled near the main circle on Holalkere Road and obstructed the traffic for about two hours. The protesters urged the district administration to supply water through tankers. They said that the water supply through pipeline is irregular and that the supply through tankers was stopped recently. Officials of the City Municipal Council and police rushed to the spot and promised the agitating public of solving the problem immediately. The protesters withdrew the agitation and took out a procession to the Deputy Commissioner's office. They submitted a memorandum to S.H. Vijay Kumar, Headquarters Assistant to the Deputy Commissioner, who assured them to supply water through tankers regularly.
