MYSORE: The month-long Chinnara Mela camp organised by Rangayana came to an end here on Monday with hundreds of children taking out a march through the main thoroughfares of the city to re-enact the historic Dandi March and mark the 75th anniversary of the event. Attired like Mahatma Gandhi and Kasturba Gandhi, children in the age group of eight to 12 years, marched through the main roads of the city. Traffic in the city came to a standstill when the procession passed through. The march began at 10.15 a.m. with a seven-year old Arpith Alexander garlanding the bust of Mahatma Gandhi at Gandhi Square in the presence of Deputy Commissioner, G. Kumar Naik. Singing memorable songs of the pre-independence era such as Raghupathi Raghava Raja Ram and Sare Jahan Se Achcha Hindustan Hamara, the children marched through the roads near Town Hall, K.R. Circle, and Devaraj Urs Road before reaching Rangayana on the Kalamandra premises.
