Godavari water for Medak: YSR

Road map for bringing water from Pranahita within six months

SANGAREDDY: Fulfilling the long cherished dream of this region, the Chief Minister, Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, promised to bring Godavari water to Medak and also assured its due share in Manjeera, at a public meeting in Arkela village in Papannapet mandal on Monday.

The Chief Minister who participated in the Praja Patham programme announced that within six months the State Government would come up with a road map on how to bring Godavari water from Pranahita via Ellampalli and cater to the needs of Medak and Ranga Reddy districts. With this he said the dependency of twin cities on Manjeera would come down and considerable quantity of Manjeera water would be made available to Medak district.

Work for labourers

Earlier, he reviewed the desilting work going on in Urachervu in Arkela under the food assurance scheme. More than 80 labourers were working on the dried up lake, which once used to irrigate 600 acres. Dr. Reddy enquired about the free rice and the wages they were getting.

He said all the 60,000 labourers registered under the food assurance scheme in the district would be provided with gainful employment.

Later, he inaugurated work on the 146-acre `Farm pond' fallow land under the Indira Prabha comprehensive land development project and a vermicompost unit.

Interacting with the Chief Minister, Chandramma who received the patta from the then Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi, two decades ago, said she was happy that finally her land would be ready for cultivation. Dr. Reddy also promised that the Horticulture Department would distribute mango seedlings under the CLDP.

DSC 2003

Responding to the demand of few unemployed youth regarding the fate of DSC 2003 examination, he said a meeting would be called for to find a solution to the problem. He asked the Minister for School Education and Medak in charge Minister, N. Rajyalakshmi, to resolve the issue.

The Minister for Minority Affairs, Md. Fariduddin, the Minister for Youth Affairs, T. Harish Rao, the Collector, Anil Kumar Singhal, the SP, B. L. Sujatha Rao, the MLAs, P. Sasidhar Reddy, and Padma Devender Reddy, and the DCC chief, Suresh Kumar Shetkar, were present.
