Support for housing board staff agitation

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation Employees' Association on Monday organised a lunch-hour demonstration in support of the ongoing AP Housing Board employees' agitation.

The demonstrators, who included a large number of women, raised slogans against "illegal" removal of 487 board staff. They belong to APIDC, APIIC, Markfed, Oilfed STC, Agros.

Leaders of the employees' organisations, while addressing the demonstrators, demanded steps by the Government to strengthen public sector undertakings.

They sought scrapping of the Implementation Secretariat under the Industries Department, which had recommended reduction in the staff strength of State undertakings.

M. Janardhan Reddy, general secretary of the association, was among the leaders who addressed the protestors.
