This Day That Age
Acharya Vinoba Bhave has called upon members of the All India Congress Committee to devote the next two years to the Bhoodan movement. In an hour-long address to the AICC session at Berhampur on May 9, before it began its official business, the Acharya said the movement, based on non-violence, had certain spiritual implications and working for it would actually amount to strengthening world peace. This is the first time that he has addressed the AICC. Acharya Bhave said that today power was controlling man and not man power. For the first time in history fear complex was pervading the world and this could be put an end to only when a spirit of fearlessness was infused. Fearlessness could not be achieved through the possession of weapons. The cultivation of Ahimsa alone could give man fearlessness.
