While commemorating the 60th anniversary of the Allied victory, world leaders must not forget that we face formidable challenges today too, in terms of terrorism and proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. A multi-pronged, multilateral approach is needed to tackle this hydra-headed problem based on greater understanding and cooperation among nations.

It is time to make a fresh commitment to international peace and disarmament. This calls for concerted efforts to strengthen democratic and progressive forces in their fight against divisive ideologies in order to usher in a new world order.
