TUTICORIN: : The police seized counterfeit Indian currencies at Kovilpatti and arrested seven persons in this connection on Monday. The arrested were Subramanian (41), Thangapandian (32), Arumugasamy (26), Kalimuthu (45), Jagadisa Shankar (40), Pavana Divakaran (40) and Raja (38). The currencies, 58 in the denomination of Rs.100 and 250 in the denomination of Rs.50, and machines used for printing it were recovered from them. A special team, formed under N. Kannan, Assistant Superintendent of Police (Kovilpatti), found Subramanian, Thngapandian, Arumugasamy and Kalimuthu with counterfeit currencies near Pillayar Temple at Kovilpatti. Interrogation revealed the details of the gang's other members stationed at Tripunitura in Ernakulam district of Kerala. Two sub-inspectors rushed to Tripunitura and arrested the accused with the help of the Kerala Police.
