New building for Sathyamangalam taluk office soon

Old building to be used for other purposes


ERODE: A new building for the Sathyamangalam Taluk Office would be constructed at Rs. 1.1 crore. The Collector, D. Karthikeyan, said that the preliminary works were almost completed and the construction would begin soon. The building would be constructed by the Public Works Department (Buildings and Maintenance). It would be built on the same premises as the old building, which needed repair. The old building would not be demolished, and be used for some other purposes.

The PWD constructed most of the schools and buildings in the district from the MLA, MP Constituency Development Fund, NABARD and other Government funds. The construction of the Rs. 1.15-crore `Jawan's Bhavan' on the Gandhiji Road was under way. With funds from the Ex-servicemen Welfare Board, the work would be completed by this July.

The construction of 13 additional school buildings in the district would be taken up at Rs. 3.48 crore with NABARD funds. Similarly, the PWD was constructing three backward class hostels for the school students in Kangeyam, Guruvareddiyur and Nambiyur and a college students' hostel in Villarasampatty. Each building would be constructed at Rs. 31.50 lakhs. The works would be completed within nine months, the Collector said.

An out-patient block was being constructed at Dharapuram and Gobichettipalayam Government Hospitals at Rs. 60 lakhs. A dormitory at Rs. 35 lakhs, and a dining hall at Rs. 6.65 lakhs would be constructed for the pilgrims on the Kodumudi Magudeswarar-Veeranarayanan temple premises.

Preliminary works for the long awaited Rs. 30-lakh mani mandapam for Deeran Chinnamalai in Odanilai village near Arachalure were on. Construction of a community hall near the mani mandapam with Rs. 20 lakhs from the Modakurichi MLA Constituency fund.

The PWD also constructed a Veterinary First Aid Centre on the Karumandichellipalayam (Perundurai) weekly shandy premises at Rs. 1.75 lakhs. A warden room at Rs. 6 lakhs would be constructed at the Children Observation Home in the Nanjai Uthukuli.
