Rajasthan to educate farmers
Special Correspondent
UNJHA (MEHSANA):
Rajasthan will follow the Gujarat pattern of organising farmers' meets in every village to educate them on scientific farming systems, Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje Scindia said.
Impressed by the Gujarat Government's month-long `Krishi Mahotsava' programme to be kicked off from Wedndesday, Ms. Scindia said it was a revolutionary programme. It was worth emulating in every state and in her State she would take the first available opportunity to organise similar programmes.
She was speaking as the chief guest at a farmers' sammelan (gathering) at Unjha in north Gujarat, known as Asia's biggest market in spices. It was the second in a series of regional sammelans organised before the Krishi Mahotsava. The first was held at Haripura in Jamnagar district on Monday for the farmers of the Saurashtra region, which was attended by the Bharatiya Janata Party vice-president, Venkaiah Naidu.
