HOSPET (BELLARY DT.): The Hospet police claimed to have solved a murder case with the arrest of three persons, including a woman, in connection with a murder case. Gold and silver articles valued at Rs. 5 lakhs have been recovered from them. On April 18, Nemiraj Gogi was found murdered in his house while his family members were out of station. Going by the manner in which the murder had been committed, the police suspected that someone close to him had committed the crime. The telephone wires were disconnected before the murder and the cellphone of the victim was missing, Mr. Thakur said. The Superintendent of Police, Pankaj Kumar Thakur, told presspersons here on Tuesday that the police were initially confused as there was no evidence.
Cellphone
However, they got the number of the cellphone of Gogi and took details of the calls made from and to the cellphone, which gave them important leads. The police learnt that two calls were made from a STD booth to the cellphone at around 9.45 p.m. On verification, it came to light that a woman had made the call. The police found out that the woman, whom Gogi knew, her husband and his friend came to Hospet. After she ascertained that Gogi was alone, she and the other two accused went to the victim's house, Mr. Thakur said. A scuffle broke out between Gogi and the others, who asked the woman to leave. The accused, Praveen and Pradeep, hit Gogi fatally with a flower vase and stabbed him all over the body, he added. 0The accused poured water to erase fingerprints and other evidences before leaving the place with the gold and silver articles, Mr. Thakur said. The police arrested Praveen at Chitradurga and Pradeep at Hubli and recovered the stolen property.
