KOTTAYAM: Kerala Congress(J) will draw up a comprehensive development strategy, Vision 2020, for the State through deliberations during the six-day State conference scheduled to be held here from May 12, the party chairman, P.J. Joseph, said here on Tuesday.

The conference would focus on the increasing problem of waste management and also on economic problems - the two major challenges confronting the State, he said. The problem of waste management would be taken up under the slogan "Malinyamillatha Malayala Nadu", while the economic challenges will be taken up under the slogan "Aiswarya Samrudhamaya Keralam-2020." An array of issues, including changes that should be brought about in areas such as infrastructure development, education and employment opportunities, health and agriculture sectors, would be discussed during the five-day conference he said. To a question, Mr. Joseph said expansion of the party or the coalition would be taken up only on the basis of discussions within the Left Democratic Front. The Conference would formally get under way with t he hoisting of the party flag on May 12.
