CHENNAI: Indians did well in the 11th Subic Bay International triathlon championship at Subic Bay Freeport, Philippines on Sunday. Kavya won the first place in the women's under-23 category (1.5km swim, 40km bike and 10km run). Overall, Kavya emerged second in the race. Syed Jabir finished third in the men's under-23 section. Kanthamani finished first (750m swim, 20km bike and 5km run) in the women's under-20 section. In the men's under-20 category, Mani Singh and P. Arun emerged first and second respectively. Mahesh Shinde (men's elite) came sixth running an Olympic distance (1.5km swim, 40km bike and 10km run). Triathletes from Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, Austria, New Zealand, Grenada, Hong Kong, Japan, Israel and Thailand took part in the event.
