Bouquets all the way for YSR

Special Correspondent

SRIKAKULAMVIZIANAGARAM: "Good, very good, wonderful!' This was how the Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, reacted to the observations of speakers from the audience whom he invited to the dais to speak on their problems. The Chief Minister, who spent less than an hour in the district to participate in the Praja Patham programme on its last day in Satyavaram and Narasannapeta on Tuesday, said that he had come to elicit views of people on various programmes taken up by the Government and set things right wherever necessary.

No problems

Speakers, who included two women from a DWCRA group, said: "There is no drinking water problem nor is there any migration of labour for want of work. Power supply is also normal and continues for seven hours for agriculture."

A member of DWCRA explained how things had changed for the better for DWCRA members after Dr. Reddy had taken over the reins of power. Another member said at Narasannapeta meeting that while the Government wanted Rs.1 crore to be sanctioned for DWCRA members in each mandal, in Narasannapeta mandal Rs.3.50 crores had been sanctioned to these groups. The interest rate is a mere 4 per cent.

The Chief Minister announced as gift sanction of 300 houses for Satyavaram village and 500 additional houses to Narasannapeta mandal with the rider that only persons with no houses would be eligible for this scheme.

SRIKAKULAMVIZIANAGARAM: The Chief Minister assured people that problems like drinking water, migrations and erratic power supply to irrigation pumpsets would be solved within 24 hours if the problems were brought to the notice of the district administration.

Participating in a Praja Patham programme at Devada village in Garividi mandal, the Chief Minister asked the local leaders and the people to air their problems, if any. But none made any complaint.

Facilities created

The district administration, keeping in view the Chief Minister's visit, laid CC roads and drainages besides construction of platforms to borewells in the village at a cost of over Rs. 20 lakhs.

The sarpanch said that what all requirements the village needed were completed on the eve of Chief Minister's visit.

The Chief Minister said that the economy of the district would improve if the ongoing projects were completed.

He said 27,000 acres in the mandal, out of the contemplated ayacut of 1.25 lakhs would get water if Thotapalli was completed.
