`Employees important in implementation of policies'

SHIMLA: Chief Secretary of the State Government, S. S. Parmar, has once again announced that 50 per cent of the Dearness Allowance of Himachal Pradesh Government employees as promised by the Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh in his budget speech would be merged with the basic pay and orders in this regard would be issued soon.

Mr. Parmar while presiding over the meeting of Joint Consultative Committee of non-gazetted employees' federation said the employees are playing an important role in the implementation of the government policies and programmes.

Chief Secretary said that Recruitment and Promotion Rules of 229 categories have been finalised and 1244 people have been provided employment on compassionate ground under Kith and Kin Policy in various department of the Government in addition to this benefit has been also given to the employees of the various public sector undertakings.

He said that the services of 628 contract teachers have been regularised besides regularisation of services of Junior Engineers in PWD and IPH Departments.

Mr. Parmar said that a number of posts have been filled in the Government Departments besides ensuring employment opportunities on a large scale in the Industrial sector that have come up in the State during last two years.

The Chief Secretary emphasised the importance of Technical Education and said that the trades to meet the manpower of the Industrial Units that were coming up in the State would be introduced in the ITIs and other Technical institutes so that maximum youth could get employment in this sector.
