BJP demands all-party meet
Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD:
The BJP has demanded an all-party meeting to discuss the issue of construction of 11 barrages on Godavari in Maharashtra.
Addressing a press conference, the BJP leaders -- K. Laxman, G. Kishen Reddy and S. V. Seshagiri Rao -- criticised the Government for its "casual" approach in tackling the issue that would affect five districts of Telangana. They said it was also surprising that the Telangana Rashtra Samithi too is silent on the issue.
The two Union Ministers had neither spoken a word nor made any effort to take it up with the Centre.
Mr. Kishen Reddy said it was unfortunate that his name was mentioned in the letters purportedly written by the revolutionary poet, P. Varavara Rao. He said he knew Chandrakantha Rao only as a dental doctor and he used to meet him for the treatment of his daughter. There was nothing else to it.
