Transmission of 4 channels prohibited
Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI:
The Government has prohibited the transmission and the retransmission of four channels telecasting objectionable programmes through cable and Direct-to-Home networks across the country.
The order prohibiting the transmission and the retransmission of `BlueKiss', `BlueKiss Express', `BlueKiss Promo' and `TBL-XXX' has been sent to Chief Secretaries, Directors-General of Police and district magistrates of all States and Union Territories by the Union Information and Broadcasting Ministry.
The Ministry took this decision after it received complaints from various quarters. It took the view that such programmes could affect public morality. Besides the designated Government officials authorised by the Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Act, 1995, to proceed against channels violating the Programme Code a copy of the order has also been forwarded to the India Broadcasting Foundation and all cable operators and multi-system operators.
