NEW DELHI: : A case of attempt to molestation was registered at the Mandawali police station in East Delhi on Tuesday after a diploma student complained to the police that some employees of a "dhaba'' (roadside eatery) - owned by a Delhi police constable - had made suggestive remarks at her and also tried to outrage her modesty. Coming just days after the sensational gang rape of a Delhi University student, the incident created a major ruckus as the local politicians took up the cause of the girl and the local police also did not want to leave anything to chance since the eatery belonged to a policeman. The Deputy Commissioner of Police (East District), Garima Bhatnagar, said in her complaint to the Mandawali police this afternoon, the girl said that the workers at the eatery were given to passing comments on girls passing by and had made suggestive comments on her. She also complained that the boys tried to pull her. Stating that the family of a Delhi police constable, Habib, runs the eatery, the officer said he is posted at SDN Hospital in North-East Delhi and was not at the dhaba when the incident took place. But while in the First Information Report, the girl has named three persons and not the Constable, in the second FIR, she has stated that he too was involved in the incident. Following the incident, Ms Bhatnagar said, Habib had also reached the spot and thereafter he was asked to assist the police in nabbing all the accused persons.
