MUMBAI: Jet Airways expects to break-even on its international operations in its first year itself. Addressing the media here on Wednesday, Wolfgang Prock-Schauer, Managing Director, Jet Airways, said, internationally, all long-haul carriers carried a 75-80 per cent passenger load on an average and Jet would be no different. The Mumbai-London flight, which commences on May 23, will have an inaugural fare of Rs. 23,000 for a return ticket. Jet will start Chennai-Kuala Lumpur flights on May 18, Mumbai-London flights on May 23 and Mumbai-Brussels-Newark flights on June 23. It is now flying Delhi-Kathmandu, Chennai-Colombo and only last week launched Mumbai-Singapore flights. Mr. Prock-Schauer said the airline, to further expand its fleet, was conducting a study for acquisition of long-haul aircraft. "We now have three A-340-300 which can operate on the Mumbai-London and the Newark flights via Brussels in June.'' In 2004-05, Jet flew eight million passengers, up 16-17 per cent from the previous year. "This was considering only domestic operations and two flights daily to neighbouring SAARC countries,'' said Mr. Prock-Schauer.
