ALAPPUZHA: The 28th State conference of the Yoga Kshema Sabha will be held at Vettikkode Saraswathi Antharjjana Nagar (Alappuzha SDV school complex) here from Thursday to Sunday, the organisers have said. The conference will begin with a meeting of the central executive committee at 8 p.m. on Thursday. The programmes will begin on Friday with the sabha State president, Puliyannoor Vasudevan Namboodiripad, hoisting the flag. The BJP leader O. Rajagopal will deliver the Sri Sankaracharya memorial speech at 9.30 a.m. At 10 a.m., Kaithapram Damodaran Namboodiri will inaugurate the arts festival. Competitions will be held at various stages at the conference venue. A cultural rally will be held at 3 p.m. on the day. The Chief Minister, Oommen Chandy, will inaugurate a meeting at 4.45 p.m. on the day. Mr. Chandy will present the Sangeetha Samrat title of the sabha to Kaithapram Damodaran Namboodiri at the meeting. The SNDP Yogam general secretary, Vellappally Natesan, will deliver the keynote address at the meeting. Those who will offer felicitations include the Brahmana Federation State president, M. Sambasivan, Thulu Madhva Sabha leader B. Girirajan and leaders of various Hindu organisations. The delegates' meeting will begin at 9 p.m. on the day. The NSS general secretary, P.K. Narayana Panicker, will inaugurate a cultural meeting at 9 a.m. on Saturday. The Travancore Devaswom Board president, G. Raman Nair, will preside over. A seminar on `Brahmin youth and entrepreneurship' will be held at 11 a.m. on the day. The former Chief Secretary of Kerala, R. Ramachandran Nair, will inaugurate a youth meeting at 2 p.m. Namboodiri youth who have made their mark in various fields will be felicitated at the meeting. The poet Sugathakumari will inaugurate a women's meet at 9 a.m. on Sunday, the final day of the conference.
