HYDERABAD: A three-member gang, led by, Syed Javed, who had been absconding after killing one of his associates at Madhapur a year ago, was nabbed by the Tappachabutra police on Wednesday. Stolen jewellery and three two-wheelers -- worth Rs. 5 lakhs -- were recovered. A former convict, Javed (33) of Erragunta in Ranga Reddy district, was involved in many chain snatching and vehicle lifting cases along with his accomplices, Shaik Baba Sharfuddin and M. Anand, the Inspector, M.S. Venugopal Rao, said.
Javed admitted to killing his associate, Mohd. Rafeeq, as the latter harassed members of his family while he was in jail for two years.
Car driver held
The Begum Bazar police caught a businessman's car driver, Ch. Suresh Kumar, and recovered stolen cash of Rs. 81,000.
The businessman, Harinatha Choudhary, had complied that his driver had disappeared with his car and a suitcase with Rs. 2 lakhs on May 5.
Fake certificate racket
The Task Force (Central) team busted a fake certificate racket with the arrest of two persons -- T. Srinivasa Rao and D. Purnachander -- at Chikkadpally.
A large number of fake certificates of various courses and 131 forged rubber stamps were recovered.
