U.K. varsity dean coming

For students looking for higher education opportunities in the United Kingdom, here is some news to use: Andrew Lock, dean of the Leeds University Business School, attached to the University of Leeds, will be in Bangalore on May 15 to hold interviews and counsel students.

Those interested could go straight to the Oberoi Hotel with their resume and certificates. Among the undergraduate and postgraduate courses offered by the university in Arts and Social Sciences are fashion, design, dance, education, English, history, international studies, law and psychology.

Under business and management, the varsity offers accounting, advertising, human resource management, management, economics, international marketing, finance, international finance, financial mathematics, banking and finance and MBAs in finance, marketing, international business and information management.

Under engineering and sciences, the courses offered are: civil, chemical, computers, textiles, communications, electronics, mechanical, biological sciences, materials, food science, mathematics, dentistry, environment, transport studies, health and hospital management.

The closing date for the scholarships for postgraduate courses in business and management is May 31.

The University of Leeds has, at present, a tie-up with the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA). In January 2003, the varsity and IIMA had conducted a management development programme for a British business group. The university has a full-fledged India office in New Delhi. Applications invited

Training and Advanced Studies in Management and Communications Ltd. (TASMAC) has invited applications from students with a minimum of two years of work experience for admission to its MBA programme, validated by the University of Wales in the U.K. The admissions are now open for the batch starting in June 2005.

The students will have the option of doing the MBA programme either through the full-time or the part-time mode of study. Non-graduates over the age of 25 with relevant professional and managerial work experience are also eligible for the MBA programme.

TASMAC offers the MBA programmes with specialisations in finance, marketing, human resource management, international business and information management.

Cultural festival

Don Bosco Institute of Technology will organise "Surabhi 2005", a two-day inter-collegiate cultural festival from Thursday on the institute premises. Renowned mimicry artiste, Dayanand, will be the guest of honour for the inauguration.
