Siemens bags Railways contract
NEW DELHI:
Aimed to rev up the `Mobile train radio communication system' in India, the Siemens Communications group has bagged orders to introduce GSM-R in two additional zones of the Indian Railways. Siemens will build the GSM-R network for the North Central (Delhi) and East Central Railways (Hazipur) zones by the first quarter of 2006. The total contract valued at Rs. 57 crores, with Rs. 17 crores each for the two new orders, is a part of the Indian Railways' plans to launch GSM-R networks.
