10 child workers rescued

COIMBATORE: : Labour Department officials rescued 10 child workers from brick kilns during raids conducted on Thursday at Chinna Thadagam, Periya Thadagam and Kanuvai here.

An official said three of the children were girls, and action would be initiated against four establishments that employed them. The children would be enrolled in the residential school run by the Kovai Child Labour Abolition Support Society.

The Labour Department and the Society rescued 21 child workers in raids conducted in eateries, automobile workshops and gold smithies in the city on Wednesday.

A Society official said raids were conducted at Sivananda Colony, Thudiyalur and 100 Feet Road.
